The Stars Are My Chandelier
You can’t write like you think a writer writes, that does not make good writing. Writing is a causality of pure expression. [It is] an inevitability of pure expression.

Just spoke to a very old friend of mine (figuratively, and literally) for what may very well be the last time ever. It’s certainly a very delicate conversation when you’re saying such goodbyes to someone you’ve known for so long before they pass. My only hope is that the restricted time he has left in this world is as painless, and peaceful as possible, and that he knows of all of our love for him well, and to be true. Thanks for everything, Don. You won’t be soon forgotten

"One day in the subway, James saw a red cat with a wound to the leg that likely resulted from a fight with another cat. It was obvious that the cat needed help. James could not pass and took the cat to the vet. With a little medical treatment and prescription drugs, the cat quickly recovered. At that point, James found it impossible to say goodbye to Street Cat Bob. Bob followed James everywhere he went. As James played the guitar on the street and Bob sat nearby, revenues increased dramatically. People found it difficult to pass when they looked at the cute kitty. James went on to write a book describing their adventures in the street which was full of life – both dramatic and comedic. In the book, James says that he could not have imagined how meeting Bob would change his life. His friendship with the cat healed him from a life that had been very hard. Most likely, if Bob could speak, he would say the same thing.”

Um, so here is a book I am going to go BUY… NOW.

Mike Skinner, Member Of The Goddamn Band / Miracle Of 86, Passes Away

Mike Skinner, a member of both Kevin Devine’s Goddamn Band and Miracle Of 86 passed away this weekend. Skinner played, toured, and produced a plethora of records with Devine. Mike took a great role in PropertyOfZack’s Inside series on Kevin earlier this year, and reading through it again, it is clear just how much he will be missed. A note from Kevin can be found below.

I remember getting this, & Blink 182’s self titled in 5th grade. First two records I ever bought

Guys, this is one of my best friends ( devontejonvire ) and one of his new songs. I have been singing these lyrics under my breath since he sent me the demo a few weeks ago. I am really proud of him and all the hard work he put into writing this song, can’t wait to share a beer with this talented guy soon.

Give it a listen and enjoy.

I have the greatest friends that any dude could ever ask for

Living Legend

We worked really hard, drank a lot of beer, & watched the Lego movie 3 times while recording this song so I hope someone can dig it
